In Winter the Alps transform into a snow covered wonderland that is best discovered on skis. Traditionally, early season provides great opportunities for day tours and lift accessed off piste skiing from a valley base. Later in the season the high mountain huts open and it is possible to travel 'hut to hut' through the high mountains.
